Provides legal aid in civil and criminal matters for people who cannot afford to pay for a lawyer from their own resources. For Albertans who qualify under the eligibility guidelines, they offer legal representation through an assigned lawyer. Legal aid also offers a free Emergency Protection Order Program, which provides victims of family violence with information and a lawyer who can help them to obtain and confirm protection orders. They attend court on a daily basis to represent Albertans who have experienced violence in their lives.
